• Monday: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
• Tuesday thru Thursday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
• Friday: 9:00 am to 2:30 pm (Concert at 1:00 pm)

A short audition will take place on Monday morning after student registration is completed. The audition is nothing to panic about!

Purpose of audition

The audition will help the instructors place the students into the ensemble that is best suited for their current skill level. The large ensembles, called "Cadet Band" (geared for students with one year of experience) and "Concert Band" (geared for students with more than one year of playing experience or those showing similar expertise) will encompass the main portion of the students' rehearsal time during camp. In addition, students will be assigned to smaller 'chamber' ensembles (i.e., clarinet ensemble, trombone ensemble, etc.) and the audition will be valuable in making these placements as well. NO STUDENTS WILL BE EXCLUDED BASED ON THEIR AUDITION.


Contents of audition

1. Students will be asked to play a snare drum rudiment (chosen from the following): Long Roll, Flam, 5 stroke roll, or paradiddle. If possible students will also be asked to play a major scale on a mallet instrument.
   
   
2. A short sight-reading piece on snare drum or bells (8-12 measures of music that the student has never seen.)
   
   

Students will be asked to sight read on both mallets and snare drum.

Transportation
In order to assist students with transportation to the camp, a Shuttle Bus will be available from Benton MS each morning of the camp. Please check "YES" to the Shuttle Bus Option and include an additional $10 with your registration if you intent to use this service. The Shuttle Bus will pick up students at 8 AM the first day of each camp and 8:30 AM the rest of the week (Tuesday through Friday). Pick-up will occur at approximately 3:45 PM for the Concert/Percussion Camp and approximately 1:15 PM for the Jazz Band Camp with the exception of Fridays. No return shuttle will be provided following the days of the concert (July 18 and 25).

Potomac Middle School: Bus will leave the school on Monday at 7:40 am and then at 8:10 am the rest of the week and return time will be 4:00 pm for the concert band camp and 1:30 pm for the jazz camp. No return shuttle will be provided following the days of the concert (July 18th and 25).
